Connecting Families Through the Pathways Parent Association

As we reach the midpoint of the school year, we are excited to highlight the contributions of the Pathways Parent Association (PPA) and the ways it has strengthened relationships and built community at Educational Pathways Academy (EPA).

The PPA is dedicated to fostering a supportive community and lasting connections for students and families. As the school’s primary volunteer group, it plays a key role in supporting EPA, encouraging parent involvement, and creating meaningful opportunities for families to engage with one another.

Each year, PPA leadership works closely with the school to plan community-building events that celebrate EPA’s mission and enhance the educational experience for students. Whether volunteering at an event or joining a fun activity, there’s always a way for families to get involved and be part of the EPA community.

Building Connections All Year Long

The PPA hosts a variety of events designed to bring families together throughout the school year.

The year began with a kick-off meeting, where parents gathered to learn about ways they could volunteer and get involved. During this time, families shared a little about themselves and their students. These conversations were often some of the most touching moments of the year, with parents reflecting on how EPA had made a real difference in their student’s life.

Following the kick-off, the school year continued with a casual park meet-up, giving families a relaxed way to meet others and build connections early in the school year. In the fall, the PPA held its annual Fall Festival at Farmer Mike’s U-Pick, a beloved tradition filled with seasonal activities and community-building. Students enjoyed spending time together, while parents built relationships with other EPA families.

During the holiday season, families had the opportunity to give back through service-focused events, such as Meals of Hope packing activities. These experiences brought families, students, and staff together to support the local community.

This year, the PPA also hosted a mid-year coffee connection, providing an opportunity for families to catch up, plan for the rest of the school year, and welcome new parents into the PPA community.

These highlights provide a mid-year view of how the PPA has been working to strengthen relationships and foster connection at EPA. We are excited for the upcoming events that will continue to bring EPA families together throughout the rest of the school year.

Celebrating our Dedicated Staff

Showing support and appreciation for the EPA team is a key part of the PPA’s mission. So far this year, the PPA has continued to find meaningful ways to encourage and celebrate the educators and staff who serve our students each day.

One of the consistent ways this support is shown is through quarterly snack carts on both campuses, providing a simple but thoughtful reminder of the school community’s gratitude.

In addition, seasonal initiatives, such as a collective holiday gift for administrators, faculty, and staff, offer families a shared opportunity to show appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the entire EPA team.

Supporting the Pathways Fund

The Pathways Fund Committee is a dedicated group within the PPA that supports fundraising for EPA’s Annual Fund. Parent volunteers partner with the school to build school spirit, promote engagement, and express appreciation to donors.

Committee members contribute in a variety of ways, including collaborating on initiatives, assisting during special fundraising events such as Giving Days, and supporting key projects that help ensure the success of the Annual Fund. Through their efforts, the committee provides meaningful support for programs and opportunities that benefit both students and the broader EPA community.

A Community of Support and Connection

As a private school dedicated to serving students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, EPA recognizes that families often share unique experiences, challenges, and victories. The PPA provides a welcoming space for families to connect with others who understand their journey and find encouragement within a supportive community.

We are deeply grateful for the parents who serve through the PPA and generously give their time, energy, and talents to strengthen EPA. Their dedication plays a vital role in fostering connection and enriching the life of our school.

As the year continues, we look forward to more opportunities for connection and are thankful for the community that makes EPA such a special place!
